*Sapphire celebrated Swarnim Vijay Varsh.*
Sapphire International School celebrated Swarnim Vijay Varsh on the 4th of August 2021.The school invited Lt. Gen. Gyan Bhushan on this propitious occasion.
Lt. Gen Gyan Bhushan, PVSM, UYSM,AVSM, VSM, UDC, is the former Commander and the Colonel of the MAHAR Regiment.
He had an interactive session with the Sapphire Family. He narrated several fascinating stories from his life and, also illuminated the audience with several engrossing stories from the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. He answered the various questions posed by the students, He talked about how difficulties made the teammates the best of friends, "Greater the difficulty you serve together greater is the relationship".
He shared several anecdotes from his army life, He talked about 'Sarva Dharm Sthal', where the Indian Armed Forces worship all religions together at one place to inculcate a feeling of unity and secularism.
He shared several incidents from the 1971 Indo- Pak War, which resulted in the liberation of Bangladesh. He revealed the hardships faced by the army personnel on the daily basis.
While answering the questions asked by one of the students, he said that women can achieve anything they want, girls should not feel inferior about themselves, because there is nothing that they cannot achieve. ' With hardwork and sheer determination everything is possible'.
He talked about the idea of " Service above self". He articulated, that for a soldier the nation, India comes first, even before one self.
He mentioned how Indian Armed Forces is one of the best armies in the world and encouraged the students to join the Indian Armed Forces. While answering one of the questions, he said, while the training for armed forces can be considered as difficult in the beginning, but with consistency it becomes easier, and emphasized the fact that training is one of the most important components in the life of a soldier. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ishita Priyadarshi.
