Catch em Young
At Sapphire International School, the best Boarding School in Jharkhand, we firmly believe in the approach, Catch em Young!!
If the junior classes are focussed on with due sincerity, they will eventually blossom into knowledgeable, responsible and compassionate beings. Take care of the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves.
Right from the stage, they are inducted at the Pre Primary Levels, onwards they are groomed and tutored to excel. Not just in the Core Academics but beyond as well --
Forums are made available to them where they can showcase their inherent talents in Sports and Cocurricular activities. We don't concentraten on just one single aspect of education but strive towards the larger picture. Holistic in letter and spirit. Both in classrooms and outside, the mentoring is effected by a dedicated and committed Team of Teachers.
The New Education Policy, among other proposals and guidelines, urges academicians to usher in a paradigm shift. Namely from the ages old lecture mode classes to student centric interactions.
The teacher earlier was the key player and students, the supporting cast or bit players.
No longer. Now the teacher's role, though critical has been truncated and for good reasons. S/he has to confine her/ himeself to the wings while students take centrestage.
We at SST, were into all of this -- Child centric classrooms -- much before it became a buzzword in academic circles.
Paanditya pradarshan (scholarly demonstration) of the teacher has never never encouraged.
We have always believed that a good teacher explains concepts beautifully but but, in this age and era we want teachers who can get students to explain, on his/her own, the concepts learnt, to their own classmates.
No cramming of facts and statistics in the child's mind.
A student is not a bucket to be filled but a fire that needs to be lighted. Our teaching strategies are in sync with the above wise observation.
