The Earth is what we all have in common. The care of the earth is our most ancient and most worthy and after all our most pleasing responsibility. Since its inception in 1970, Earth Day continues to grow as a worldwide event. On the occasion of Earth Day, a special assembly and a poster-making competition was organized in Sapphire International School. The assembly commenced with an eloquent speech on Earth Day by Archit Kumar of Grade VIII. It was followed by a song that was performed by students of grade VI. Students of grades VII and VIII also displayed a few DIY projects such as bird water feeders highlighting their use and significance. Akash of grade VIII and Priyanshu of grade VII explained how to make bird water feeders using plastic bottles which are usually thrown in the trash. Students of grades VII to VIII also participated in poster-making competitions based on various themes such as Invest in our planet, Reduce Reuse and Recycle, Pollution, and Global warming. The winners were awarded certificates of appreciation. The senior students were seen collaborating with the junior ones while making posters and doing other activities. The day taught us all the importance of collaboration and taking the collective responsibility to preserve the Earth.
