International Yoga Day 2022

Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India and is still a major part of the Indian culture. Yoga is meant to edify and refine by enabling us to evolve from a sub-human to human to divine states of being.
To mark the 8th International Yoga Day on 21st June, students and teachers at Sapphire International School, Ranchi enthusiastically participated in the event. On this day,also the longest day, Summer Solstice ,, The Principal inspired the students to take up Yoga as a way of life and also threw some light on the ancient culture and the rising trend of yoga in India and across the Globe.
The event commenced with an introduction to Yoga by Mr Rakesh, faculty of Science, who explained the meaning of the root word of Yoga. Anish of Grade XII highlighted the significance of Yoga for our Physical and mental well-being. Mr. Rakesh further demonstrated various asanas.The Student followed the demonstration and performed different yoga asanas sequentially. They were also made aware of the benefits of different types of yoga. Siddhant of grade X gave an excellent commentary on the benefits of different types of Yoga as the demonstration continued. The Yoga session ended with Sankalpa and the Universal prayer. To add the fun element to the proceedings,Anush of grade XII performed a track ,catchily titled ‘Yoga se hi hoga'.
Mr Rakesh (Department of Science), Mr Raushan and Mr Sagrendra (Department of fine arts)and Mr R.B Singh (Department of Sports ) played significant roles in making the program a grand success.
