World Blood Donor Day

World Blood Donor Day takes place on 14 June each year. The aim is to raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion and of the critical contribution voluntary, unpaid blood donors make to national health systems. The day also provides an opportunity to call to action for governments and national health authorities to provide adequate resources and put in place systems and infrastructure to increase the collection of blood from voluntary, unpaid blood donors.
Sapphire International School conducted a special Online Assembly to observe World Blood Donor Day on the 14th of June .
The Assembly began with the prayer.
Sanskriti of Grade 11 informed the audience about the need and significance of observing , 'World Blood Donor Day'. Gurleen, then recited a heart warming poem on Gratitude.
Ishita, the School Captain welcomed the guest speaker, Dr. Vikram Tirkey, Medical Director of St.Barnabas Hospital,Ranchi. He illuminated our students with his practical wisdom, delving into the concept of blood donation, different types of blood groups, and the eligibility criteria for donors. The students asked questions related to Blood donation. Dr. Tirkey cleared their doubts.
The Assembly concluded with the address by the Principal, who thanked the guest speaker for enlightening the students and staff with his invaluable information on blood donation and also, encouraged the staff members to donate blood and save lives.
