Tribute to Milkha Singh
“A beautiful soul will never be forgotten.”
Sapphire International School used its online platform to pay tribute to the
Legendary Sportsman Padmashri Milkha Singh. The special assembly commenced
with a Shloka and Hindi prayer by Rudransh and Priyanshu.
Aparajita and Anand shared the thought inspired by a quote of Milkha Singh.
Himanshi Priyadarshini dedicated a poem in honour of the iconic sprinter.
The ‘Life of Milkha Singh’ was beautifully depicted by Swati, Ishita and Rishi
through a PowerPoint presentation.
After the presentation the students had an interactive session. The Principal’s
address to the assembly was full of nuggets of wisdom, as he encouraged everyone to
take inspiration from the life of Milkha Singh and bring laurels to our nation.
It was indeed a motivational assembly which induced determination and dedication in all.

COMBAT COVID 19

Mankind hasn’t overcome the effect of the unprecedented second wave of the
COVID-19 pandemic, which left a devastating impact on health, lives and
livelihoods. Now, the third wave stands knocking at our doorstep. It is
assumed to be highly dangerous for children. Therefore, in order to sensitize
the future generation, Sapphire International School organized a session on
‘COMBAT COVID-19’ on the 1st of July 2021.
The session began with a prayer by Anish Raj of Grade 11.
Ishita, the School Captain welcomed the guest speaker, Dr. Mira Rani, Deputy
Commandant & Senior Medical Officer, CRPF Delhi. She illuminated our students
with her practical wisdom, delving into facts related to the highly transmissible
strain and the precautions to be taken. The students asked questions related to the
new strain of virus. Dr. Mira cleared their doubts.
The entire program was compered by Joshua Dhan of Grade 11.
The Assembly concluded with the address by the Academic Coordinator, who thanked the
guest speaker for enlightening the students and staff with her invaluable information
on Combating COVID 19.
National Doctor’s Day
National Doctors’ Day is celebrated on the 1st of July to honour the birth and
death anniversary of the great physician and second Chief Minister of West Bengal,
Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. This day is celebrated to recognize the contributions of
physicians to individual lives and communities.
Sapphire International School conducted a special Online Assembly to celebrate National
Doctor’s Day on the 2nd of July.
The Assembly began with a prayer by Saanvi. The thought of the day was shared by Aaradhya.
Frank informed the audience about the need and significance of observing, National Doctor’s
Day'. A video collage and a video presentation were presented which reminded everyone about
the contributions and sacrifices made by doctors and the healthcare staff around the globe daily.
The students of Grade 3 played an important role in conducting the assembly.
The Assembly concluded with the address by the Principal, who encouraged and motivated the students
to take up this noble profession and save humanity from future health emergencies.

ART UNLOCKS THE DOOR TO LEARNING
Learning through and about the ART enriches the experience of studying
while at school as well as equipping students for life after school.
ART encourage self-expression and creativity and can build confidence as
well as a sense of individual identity.
At Sapphire, we endeavour to inculcate ART into the mainstream of learning.
We believe that it is ART that unravels the mystery of learning and adds
cherry to the overall process.
We all strive to give the jab of smart art into every student.

“Go Green, Plastic is Obscene! ...".
The International Plastic Bag Free Day is observed on July 3 annually.
The day is observed to raise awareness about the grave issues of plastic
pollution and the serious threat that it poses to the natural environment
ranging from land to marine life.
Sapphire International School conducted a special Online Assembly to
observe Plastic Bag Free Day on the 5th of July. The programme commenced
with a prayer, offered by Riya, followed by the thought of the day by
Yashwardhan.
Rudransh and Aprajita illuminated the audience with the adverse effects of
the use of plastic bags. Aprajita, Tanya and Riya choreographed a fabulous
dance performance.
The students of Grade 6 presented a fashion show exhibiting their T-shirt
bags as an alternative to plastic bags to raise awareness about the harmful
effects of plastic bags among the audience.
The entire programme was dextrously compered by Md. Saif Ali and concluded
with the address by the Principal, who encouraged the students to minimize
the use of plastic bags.

World Zoonoses Day

“World Zoonoses Day tells us how the health of animals is closely and
inextricably related to the health of humans”.
World Zoonoses Day commemorates the work of French biologist Louis Pasteur;
on 6 July 1885, Pasteur successfully administered the first vaccine against
rabies, a zoonotic disease.
Happy Feet, the Pre-primary wing of Sapphire International School conducted a
special Online Assembly to observe the World Zoonoses Day on the 9th of July.
The programme commenced with a prayer, offered by Mrigank of class LKG, followed
by the thought of the day by Ritika of class UKG.
Aryan and Deepti illuminated the audience with various bits of information
related to Zoonotic Diseases.
Yuvraj, Adira highlighted the adverse effects of these Zoonotic diseases and
precautionary measures to be taken in order to avoid contracting them.
Anmol shared a most graceful and charming video of his friends showing their
love and concern for animals.
The entire programme was conducted successfully by our Kindergarteners and
concluded with the address by the Principal, who inspired the students with his
nuggets of wisdom, handing out practical Advice related to handling of Pets.

Rathyatra

Sapphire International School conducted a special edifying Online Assembly to
celebrate Rath Yatra on the 12th of July. The programme commenced with a prayer by
Prakansh.
Alex shared the thought for the day emphasising the importance of Karma. Priyanshu
enlightened the audience with Geeta Saar, while Askrit, Tanzim and Ayush shared a
few facts about Rathyatra. Jiya and Gaurangi narrated a rattling folklore about Lord
Jagannath. Kajal illuminated the audience with the importance of Rathyatra. Mayank
turned into a Quizmaster and asked several enthralling questions related to Indian
mythology.
The entire programme was delightfully compered by Rajesh.
The Assembly concluded with the address by the Principal, who encouraged the students
to take pride in their own culture. He also urged the students to focus on their
'Karma', without worrying about the results.

Nelson Mandela Day

Sapphire International School conducted a special Online Assembly to
observe Nelson Mandela Day on the 16th of July. The programme commenced
with a prayer by Richa.
Bhimsen narrated a heart touching story of kindness. Vivek illuminated
the audience with life and works of Nelson Mandela, a beautiful video was
shared showing the random acts of kindness performed by the Sapphire
family.
The Assembly concluded with the address by the Principal, who praised the
students for their wonderful effort.
The students of Class 7 and the Social Science department played a key
role in conducting this educative assembly
Mission Future
"Earth is a small town with many neighborhood in a very big universe".
Sapphire International School conducted an educative Online Assembly on
the 19th of July. The programme commenced with a prayer by Neyum Lodha.
The students of Class 10-A illuminated the audience with various
intriguing facts about the Outer Space. They also shared several gripping
facts about NASA and ISRO and their contribution in search for the another
universe.
The Assembly concluded with the address by the Principal, who praised the
students for conducting such an informative assembly.


Guru Purnima
"One who imparts immense wealth of knowledge & wisdom. One who rekindles
our light by a spark.... And ignites the flame within us... A Guru".
Sapphire International School conducted a special Online Assembly to
celebrate Guru Purnima on the 23rd of July. The programme commenced with a
prayer by Atharva. Shreyansh shared the thought for the day, emphasizing the
importance of Gurus in one's life, while Rishav gave a soul- touching speech about
their importance in our life.
Mantra and Aditya shared the story behind the celebration of Guru Purnima.
Aarush, Kshitiz, Shazmah and Vishwaraj presented a humourous and yet morally enriching
skit about the teachings of a Guru and understanding of a shishya.
Super Guru of Sapphire, Mr.Ajay Chauhan illuminated the students with his words of
wisdom.
Tanya delightfully compered the entire programme.
The Assembly concluded with the address by the Principal, who encouraged the students to
be their own Guru and learn from everything around them.
The English Department played a key role in conducting this captivating assembly.


World Nature Conservation Day
Observed on July 28 annually, World Nature Conservation Day acknowledges that
a healthy environment is the foundation for a stable and healthy society.
Sapphire International School conducted a special Online Assembly to observe
World Nature Conservation Day on the 26th of July. The programme commenced
with a prayer by Sharon, followed by a soul- stirring speech by Anush on the
importance of conserving the environment.
Richa and Atharva enlightened the audience with several gripping facts about
Tigers and other endangered animals.
The students of Grade 8 presented a Poster Compilation making the audience
aware of Nature Conservation.>br>
Sharon masterfully compered the entire programme.
The Assembly concluded with the address by the Principal, who encouraged the
students to ' Recycle, Reduce and Reproduce'.

Friendship Day

"A true friend accepts who you are but also helps you become who you
should be".
Every year, the first Sunday of August is celebrated as Friendship Day in
India.
Sapphire International School conducted a special Online Assembly to
celebrate Friendship Day on the 30th of July. The programme commenced with
a prayer by Akancha, followed by the thought of the day by Gauri.
Monu narrated a beautiful poem by William Shakespeare, describing the
difference between a true friend and a flatterer.
Aarush, Abhishek, Hariom, Kshitiz , Monu and Vishwaraj presented a
poignant skit showcasing the friendship between Shri Krishna and Sudama.
Saanvi masterfully compered the entire programme.
Primary- online academic activities
The academic activities conducted in the month of July helped the students to develop creative and critical thinking skills, communication skills and learning beyond the subjects.
Primary- online academic activity : English

The English activities helped the students to broaden their minds and develop social and emotional skills through experiential learning. Students zealously participated in role-plays, art integrated activities related to grammar concepts. They also learnt to appreciate a poem through recitation.
Primary- online academic activity : EVS
The students enthusiastically participated in various EVS activities like – germination, experiment on miscible and immiscible liquids, poster making, dressing up as freedom fighters, making a greetings card and chart work on habitat and adaptation. These activities created awareness against violation of animal rights and deforestation. The experiments enhanced the observation skill of the students and generated curiosity amidst the young learners.

Primary- online academic activity : Mathematics

Students had fun learning new concepts in mathematics. The explored real-world examples of Equivalent Fractions and different shapes. They used paper cut outs to create 2D images of different shapes.
Primary- online academic activity : Information Technology
Students made wonderful chart work on the uses of computers, created files on My Hobby and learnt the usage of different icons.

Primary- online academic activity : Spanish

The students are learning the second most spoken lanuage in the world through Art Integration. They made illustrations and labelled them in Spanish which made the class more engrossing for the students.
Middle School - online academic activity : Hindi Declamation Competition

सफायर इन्टर नेशनल विद्यालय में कक्षा गतिविधि के अंतर्गत वर्चुयल हिन्दी भाषण प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया |
यह प्रतियोगिता 12 जुलाई से आरंभ होकर 16 जुलाई तक चली |
जिसमे कक्षा 6 से 8 तक के बच्चों ने उत्साह पूर्वक हिस्सा लिया | इस प्रतियोगिता का मुख्य उद्देश्य छात्रों के भाषिक क्षमता का विकास करना
और मौखिक झिझक को दूरकर आत्मविश्वास को बढ़ाना था | इस कार्यक्रम के निर्णायक मण्डल के रूप मे विद्यालय के वरिष्ठ अध्यापक श्री
अजय झा और सुश्री मनु कपूर उपस्थित रहें| उन्होंने बच्चों के इस प्रयास की सराहना की | कार्यक्रम का संचालन श्री गोपाल स्वरूप पाठक ,
सुश्री बीना जैन एवं सुश्री प्रीति सिंह ने किया | कार्यक्रम को सफल बनाने मे तकनीकी विभाग के अनुराग और बिनोद का सराहनीय प्रयास रहा |

Charting India's Progres@75

As per the CBSE Circular ACAD-50/2021 dated 30.6.2021
Activities under CBSE Expression Series were conducted online on the theme of
Charting India's Progress@75 from 12th July to 20th July 2021.
The students of Grades 6 to 10 wrote essays, poems and expressed their
perspective and idea through paintings. The topics ranged from 'The
Achievements of India in the field of Science and Technology', 'How would I
contribute to the development of my country?' to 'The Progress of Indian
Education Sector after independence'and 'Importance of Green Revolution in
India’s Economic Development'.
Elocution
To enhance the speaking skills of the students , an Online Elocution
Competition was organized for the students of Grade VI- X , from the 5th of
July 2021 to the 9th of July 2021.This competition helped the students to
improve their speaking skills, and enhanced their confidence.
The students were awarded grades as per their scores. Their efforts and
initiative were appreciated by the judges. Mr. Ajay Jha, one of the jury
members gave his valuable suggestions. He insisted that students should read
more to improve their vocabulary. They must watch Hollywood movies, serials,
award shows and listen to celebrities speaking in English like Amitabh
Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. They should also take help of resources like
YouTube, Google and even the dictionary for pronunciation.


Middle School - online academic activity : English

Mud and mirror art also known as 'Lippan Kaam' is a mural art form, that is,
it is done on walls. The word 'lippan' means clay or dung and the word 'kaam'
denotes work. Lippan Kaam is a very popular craft of Kutch, Gujarat. Adding
a layer of mud, at times, mixed with cow or camel dung also helps to keep the
house cool. This technique is often used in villages with mud huts or mud floors.
When mud art is used for decoration, artists also stick small pieces of mirrors
and that is why the art is called mud and mirror art.
The students of grade 6 drew simple pattern on the cardboard. They rolled mounding
clay into different shapes according to the pattern to complete the artwork.
Extempore
Extempore is the art of public speaking that is carried out without preparation or forethought. It puts to test one’s ability to think on the spot and also their spontaneity. Oral communication fulfills a number of general and discipline-specific academic functions. Students need to speak well in their personal lives, future workplaces and social interactions. Extempore is one such method which assists the students not only in thinking on their own but also in voicing their creative ideas with precision. To imbibe a true spirit of learning amongst students and to enhance their communication skills, an Online Extempore Activity was conducted for the students of Grade VI to X from 19th July to 23rd July 2021. The participants were awarded grades according to their performance.


Science Quiz
An online Science Quiz competition for class VI was held on 27th July, 2021.
Ms. Vineeta Srivastava,Chemistry teacher conducted the quiz. There were 5
teams comprised of 4 participants from each team.
The quiz began with the introduction of the team leader from each team. There
were five rounds starting with ‘Cosmos round’ followed by Physics, Chemistry,
Biology and General Awareness rounds to test the knowledge and scientific
temperament of students.
Although all the teams participated actively, the final round was a tie
between team D and E. Both the winner teams were awarded certificates for
their excellent performance.
Secondary School - online academic activity :Science

Students of grade 9 participated in an interesting class activity that dealt with a 3D model of an edible animal cell. These projects were prepared using different edibles easily available with them. Their creativity simply reflected conceptual learning and artistic skills. The students prepared a mini-meal based on the theme "animal cell" which satisfied their scientific temperament and also the taste buds.
Online academic activity :Spanish
Spanish Festivals are celebrated all the year-round from the popular Spanish Festival "La Tomatina" to "Benicassim". We have found some of the best and bizarre festivals in Spain. Many festivals in Spain are specific to certain town and regions. All the students of grade-8A participated in it. They spoke on the important points and facts of these festivals.
